Being Holy, Step 2 – Reverent

Today and tomorrow (Wednesday & Thursday), we are looking for examples in our lives or the lives of others where we see Reverence taking place or aka Respect or Respectfulness. Sometimes this can be one of the most difficult steps in holiness because Reverence or Respect should be given, even to those who have not earned reverence or respect in our opinion.
The Apostle Peter reminds us that “it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers” (1st Peter 1:18). Basically what Peter was saying is that even though we were ourselves not deserving of anything, not even respect; it was still given to us anyway, and without question. This was the work on the Cross that Jesus did by dying for us.
So instead of looking at others and judging whether or not they are deserving of respect; let us look at people with eyes seeing Christ in them and that it is He who we are respecting and His holiness that we are being reverent towards.
I hope this helps for today and that you are keeping strong in the faith!!!
